New Year's Eve

It's New Year's Eve.
Within the whole year, I feel the phase, "An End Has A Start" most strongly on this day.

I also start a new blog from tomorrow, and so this blog ends today. The a new blog has the title, "Saku's Blog 2008," and it has a new look. (It's the same as the Japanese one, so if you are not sure, check the Japanese one.) The address is below.

http://www.sasakukublog2008.blogspot.com

I guess, it doesn't matter whether you omit www or not.
Anyway,

Without regarding my feelings,
I wish for the all people on Earth to have a good year.

It's Still 30th.

Today, I was making 2008 calendar by using word. It was fun. And, for these days, I also cleaned my apartment room a bit.
Now, I can go to a New Year's party at friend's apartment tomorrow!

I hope everyone will have a nice time for celebrating the New Year too.

One of Them

There are people whose lives are so fierce, but their minds seem to be not so harsh.

I guess that Jesus Christ was one of such people.

A Nice Return Trip

About an hour ago (around 10:30 pm), I came back to Victoria.
The first and the second day were raining, but today, we had a nice blue sky. Thus, I didn't have to hold the souvenir and my small umbrella at the same time.
That was really good!

Tuesday, December 18, 2007

Word Origin

In Japanese, "stories" or "materials" for talking or writing is called "ne-ta."
And, if I invert this word, it becomes "ta-ne," which means seeds.
So, I just thought the word "ne-ta" might actually derived from the word "ta-ne."

......

(It was found that the above guess was true. Is there a word like this in English?)

It is really like this.

At war, every loser laments, but every winner will eventually become weak too.
No country lasts thousands of years.

The facts become a history and with mercy, the book about it is put back to the bookshelf.

I remember that somewhere on the Net, I read a news paper article about the children in the Muslim countries.
According to the article, the children also scrawl on the picture of Muhammad.

As I read the article, I felt so much relief.
It tells me that the nature of humans are the same in all over the world.

Adults must not do that, but children are OK for doing it.

Reasons

I believe in spirits.

The biggest reason is this:
I will never be able to say "Look! There is no such thing as spirit!!" after I die.

If I add one more reason, it could be this:
When an angel or my relatives come to guide me after I die, I don't want to do the following comic dialogues.

"You died and became a spirit."
"No! I don't believe it!!"
It may be fun to do this dialogue :) , but it will still sound stupid.

Thus, I believe in spirits.
Did I make a strange argument?

Italian Opera

When I was watching an Italian opera with English subtitle at the music class, I suddenly got one question.

"Can Italians understand this opera completely?"

For example, I don't understand the Japanese traditional dance-drama (like opera!) such as Noh or Kabuki without today's Japanese subtitle. The words they use are too old to be understood by today's Japanese. Like this, today's Italians may not understand Italian opera's words. (The opera we watched is almost 250 years old!)

Now, I really want to ask Italians about how much they understand their opera.

The Okinawan Time

I always come back to a slower rhythm called "Okinawan time" when I don't have nothing special to do.

People in Okinawa (the south end of Japan) usually come 20 to 30 minutes late from the appointed time, and this not-so-good habit or the easygoing life style is called Okinawan time.

Because tomorrow's class has been cancelled, I already feel a little foolish, and doing things almost an hour late from the usual schedule.

I finally started to write a to-do list and do the things one by one.
I tried to do this several times by creating the list on a peace of paper, on Outlook, or on Word, but none of them worked well. Then, from a web page about day planner, I learned to write it on my daily planner and now I am following that advice.

This works very well, so I hope that I will be a bit more organized person.

(But, when I come to think about it, it's the first purpose of having a day planner... I don't know why I didn't think about writing the list on it from the beginning.)

If I don't know, I'll miss the Math class on Monday morning (8:30 am), and it'll be a disaster.

So, it is normal to cut the TV service for me.

Normally, my report is double-spaced, but the music report due on this Thursday should be single-spaced.

I had looked into the court building almost five years ago when a ESL class held the court tour, but at that time, we didn't sit on the gallery seats, so this is the first time for me to watch the trial.

We entered the courtroom quietly, and observed the trial about a bank robbery, then left the room when they took a 15-minute break.
