I always use Google to check how common a certain English phrase is.
(The larger the number of hits, the more common the phrase.)
It's a convenient tool for this kind of checking.

You are quite clever. Although I use google a lot, I would never have thought to use it for this.
I guess, I came up this use because I really wanted to know how common a phrase is.
It's a foreigners' way of using.
