Thinking in a quiet place makes me feel centered.
That's why I like quietness.

I'm a Japanese student trying to improve my writing skills in English. So if you have time, please correct my English. It'll greatly help my writing. Oh, you can write your comments without correcting my English, but please don't use the space for advertising...

Such a charming thought, and true, Saku.
I have a good friend (my best friend from when we were girls together, long ago) who teaches English as a Second Language at a university. One time I was visiting her, and she let me read the essays she was correcting. She was marking them all over with red pencil, and I felt a little sad. "some of these phrases are so poetic and striking!" I said to her. She said "true, but I am being hired to teach standard English, so I must correct them".
Your poetic and striking phrase here is "smooth my head". My good friend the stern professor would say you should write something like "makes me feel calm" or "makes me feel centered" or something like that. But I like your phrase a lot.
I like your corrections too.
"makes me feel centered" sounds really nice, so I'll use the phrase
I think, after I use English for many years, I finally can have enough sense to give you some poetic impressions.
