No Prediction

Today, I took the last midterm exam for Math.

I think I did well, but as always, I can't make any prediction for the result. This is only because of my bad habit of making silly mistakes.
I may have made many of these mistakes, or may have not aware for some tricky problems.

I experienced these cases a lot, so now I don't make any prediction for any test results.
I only hope my mark will be an average level.

Look Naive

Now, I'm suffering from study, but it's only the matter of myself.
So that, from the people who have some responsibilities for other people, I think that I look naive.

Each World

Yesterday, I joined a tour of an observatory.
And, for the first time, I looked a massive telescope that was constructed in 1918.

I couldn't understand all of the explanation the guide gave to us, but I understand one thing very clearly.

The people who work at this observatory are looking a totally different thing from the man I described in here the other day.

There is no star shining brilliantly in the world of the mad man, but there are so many of them in the world of the astronomers.
But, the stars are there from millions years ago.

(Even that conservatory is here from 1918, but the man, I guess, don't know about this observatory.)

A great things like this have been there from a long ago, but to look or not to look is totally depending on each person.

Bunnies!

I decided to go the University of Victoria, because there are so many bunnies on its property.

It's a stupid reason, and so I thought that there could be no one other than me who did such unreasonable decision.

BUT, today I heard that there is another person who did exactly the same thing as me!
So, I'm happy that I'm not the only one who used a funny reason to decide a university.

(But I'm sure that the student is a girl.)

A Mad Man

There is an old man who is wearing an old cloth and walking around downtown with a low whoop.
I wonder how large his sadness would be.

From a Conscience

What is most important when you are going to give a present is that whether you can imagine the person's smile clearly or not.

If you can imagine his/her smile immediately after seeing the present, the choice will be right, but if you can't imagine, you would better to consider another choice.

This measurement can also apply to the case when you want to recommend something to a friend.

If you can imagine the friend's smile immediately after thinking about the thing, it will work well. The friend will buy the thing or join the activity you recommended.
But if you are seeking compliments for your recommendation deep inside you mind when you encourage him/her, your friend may reject you.

So, when you are going to recommend someone to do something, it's always better to examine your mind before you do that.

Only the activity that comes from a conscience will do a great job.

An Interesting Information

It's often said that we, Japanese, can't distinguish the pronunciation between "L" and "R."

In fact, I still have a difficulty about these sounds, but today, I heard an interesting thing about this from a friend who is studying Linguistics.

She said that we can't distinguish them, because neither "L" nor "R" is in Japanese. The similar sound that we generally use the letter R to represent is not the actual "R." That sound is actually sit in a totally different place from them.

I've never studied Linguistics, so this was a very new idea for me.

Lightwaves

Lights are also said to be some waves.
Then, if we were able to hear these waves, we would have heard some sounds when the sun comes out from the horizontal.
I wonder how dose the sounds like.

...

...

But I'm so happy that we can't hear these sounds. It must have been too noisy, if we heard sounds whenever we saw lights.

A Proverb

There is a proverb that says "Life itself is a treasure." in Okinawa where I came from.

These words are said to be from the last king who ruled over the islands about 400 years ago.

According to a tale, he said this phrase when he admitted the defeat of the battle against the troops from the southern part of Japan. But it is also said that those words were not for king himself, but for his people. When the defeat became very obvious, he no longer wished his followers to continue the battle because he didn't want to see any more death of his people. So that he made up his mind, and with this phrase, ended the battle.

This is the story about the origin of the proverb.
Even though the story might be dressed up as it got through and might become much beautiful than the original, I believe that the king actually had a very generous mind because of the existence of this story. If he had not been kind for his people, I expect that the story itself wouldn't have been born.

This saying remained for 400 years because this was the phrase that was born from King's love.
But I'm sure that if we start using this proverb to save only our lives and not others', it will no longer give any impression, and will die soon.

To Forgive Myself

Usually, when a person is disliked by someone without any reason, she feels hurt.

She also feels very sad, because she couldn't think of any reason to be hated.
People don't like to be hated, but then, it's also true that not everyone likes you.

But when you think about yourself, you will know how egotistic your wish is. Basically, there is no one who can love all of the people she met. Everyone dislikes at least one person. Therefore, it's so natural that you will be disliked by at least one person.

So, when you feel hurt by other's nasty words, you must think about yourself. If you hated someone before, you must forgive the person who hates you now.
By doing so, you are actually forgiving yourself.
