A Total of

From tomorrow, I am going to Hawaii!
One of my cousins lives there with his wife, so his parents, his elder sister's couple, his wife's parents, my mother, another Japanese aunt, and I are going to visit them.

A total of 11 relatives gather together and celebrate New Year's Day!
It will be so much fun.

Still

There are voices still singing Christmas tunes in my head.
If I were in Japan, it would have been changed to the tunes of New Year.
How big the power of TV or radio's music is!

Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve!

I visit my old host family, and gave the present I wrapped yesterday, and ate dinner with them. A host mother is a really good cook, so I always eat a lot. (It has already past four hours from the dinner, but I'm still full.)

Thank you for having such a nice host family.

"Messiah"

I knew that the oratorio "Messiah" is always sang in the Christmas season, and Japanese pronounce the oratorio in the same way as English.
However, when we indicate the word Messiah for Christ, we pronounce it differently. We pronounce it as "me-si-ah," and also write both words differently.

Therefore, I didn't notice that the oratorio Messiah directly meant to be Jesus Christ. I learned it when I first read the booklet at the concert last year.

Mold

Yesterday, I found that my text book which I placed near a window has gotten moldy.
There were some days when we had heavy window condensation, so I put an old sheet under the window, but I completely did not think about the text book.

Now, I'll be more careful not to place the text books near the window.

Audrey Hepburn

Yesterday, I watched the DVD, "Breakfast at Tiffany's," and was amazed by Audrey Hepburn's performance.

So, I want to watch "Roman Holiday" one more time.

The Difference

If you continue talking without noticing the difference between your perspective and the person's perspective, you are likely to cause a big misunderstanding between you and the person.
Be careful!

Another Exam Is on Tomorrow Though

When I finished my exam today, I found that it was raining.
But my feelings were completely clear, so it was a rare day that my feelings won over the weather.

A Last Spurt

I read about half (200 pages) of the difficult music text book within this 7 days! (I first thought that it's impossible.)
I read all of the chapters that the teacher suggested except one which seems not so important.
The final starts at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

If I can, I will read the chapter I haven't covered from now.
Or, should I review the material because I don't remember everything I read?

I must decide soon.

( ...... I guess "sleep" is one of the choices too.)

December

There are Christmas lights on many houses, cute decorations in downtown, and Christmas music from many radio stations.
It's December.

I hope that this warm atmosphere contributes to decrease the number of crimes in town.

Luck

Our luck seems to be determined by our "words," "deeds," and "expressions."

A Strange Dream

One day, I had a strange dream.
I was flying over the edge of a big cliff, and there were gigantic hedges which were around 50m (55 yards) high. Then, I totally don't know why, but there was a manatee lying on top of it.

.........

I really wonder why I saw this dream.

Neutrality

If I could understand each countries' news in its own language, such as
news on U.S. in English,
news on Korea in Korean,
news on China in Chinese,
news on India in Hindi,
news on Iraq in Arabic,
I would be able to get a really neutral point of view.

The Youngsters

It's said that about 700 years ago, a famous Japanese monk, Kenko Yoshida, commented about the young people in his era that,
"The youngsters of today do not know correct speech."

So, I guess, youngsters have the same characteristics in any era.

Which?

Question; which is better?
1. Lose so mach points due to many miner mistakes arised by lack of sleep.
2. Get low points because of the insufficient study time (sleeping time is enough).

....Whatever, I'll do my best.

"Sort of"

I sometimes think that I sort of understand the material, but when I solve problems, I always realize I have not yet understood it.

The Biggest Enemy

The biggest enemy of my study is my "laziness."
I guess it's impossible to overcome the tendency completely, but I would like to conquer it little by little.

Find a Balance!

It's said, "there's always someone above you." If I think upside down, it could be "there's always someone below you."
What I need is to achieve a balance!

The Brain

The working speed of the brain seems to increase its speed geometrically as we train it.
Therefore, I can also be like the classmate who can solve questions twice as fast as I solve.
