The U.S.' and Canada's states are often divided by a straight line according to latitude and longitude.
This way of dividing region is a very new system, so you never see this kind of straight lines in old countries. The old way (or much common way) of dividing regions is to set the borderline according to the land features, such as rivers or mountains.
Since latitude and longitude are not visible, dividing by the land features seems more understandable. However, it may cause more conflict between the two regions since the land area is usually not equal. (Also, the land features can be changed by some natural forces such as flood and eruption, or by the human power.)
So, which is the more useful way of dividing?
... I don't know.

v.s. Typhoon
In these two to three days, a strong wind blows so hardly.
But since I'm from the place where lots of typhoon strike, I am OK.

For Every Single Child
It's a good thing that I can live in a room where neither cold nor rain suffer me.
It's a good thing that I can eat something everyday without feeling any hunger.
It's a good thing that I can read a book even in English, so that I can learn something.
I want every single child on this Earth to feel this happiness, so I'll keep my effort then pray.

While Talking
I'm talking to a friend and forgot to write a post before midnight...
Well, it's a little hard to write a different topic while I'm talking to somebody.

Right a Candle By Myself
There are so many news that give us darkness and make us lazy for living an everyday life.
In such situation, what I can only do is to pray for those who are in suffer and come back to my life.
By only lighting a candle on my mind and living my life happily, I can make the people around me happy.

Weekend
Today is already Thursday.
One more school day and we enter weekend.
On Monday, I thought that weekend is fur away, but when it comes to Wednesday or Thursday, I feel that "It's already near to the end of the week."
Usually it feels good, but this time, because I have a Math's midterm on the next week, I hope the time to go a little more slowly.

Words
There is a small but cute calendar on my wall this year.
This is the present from my mam. Therefore, there are some Chinese characters for the days and months.
Sometimes, I like Chinese characters more than English characters, because they express things very shortly. For example, the day like Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday is expressed by only one character such as "月" "火" "水". The sounds are also very short, "ge-thu" "ka" "su-i" (in Japanese).
But on the other hand, I sometimes feel that English sound is much better than Japanese sound especially in songs.
English is very rhythmic and fast. Japanese is sometimes very dull, because it can't say a word for only one note.
The character difference in languages is interesting.

Doors
There are so many types (decorations?) of doors on each house.
One house has a door that has a small octagon-shaped window, but another house has a big round-arched window, and there are doors that have three long squire windows, or no window but has a beautiful arabesque design iron grid. Some doors have a very strong color, but some are just plain white with four or six squire patterns.
My violin-teacher's house has a door that has a stained-glass window.
Each family chose a house on its own, so like their doors, there could be many kinds of families around the city.

A New Umbrella
Today, I bought a new folding umbrella.
My old one was broken about a week ago, and I really wanted to buy a new one.
The new umbrella I bought is grey and have some cute knitted-pipe like patterns on the edge and its center, and most importantly, its size (super mini) is the same as the old one.
So now, I can always carry the new one in my backpack's front pocket, and can use it anytime when it's raining.

"China Rises"
Today (I mean Sunday, Jan. 22), I saw a documentary program about China, called "China Rises."
It was a really interesting program.
China is surely one of the most interesting countries on the Earth...

I just knew that the boundary between the atmosphere and space is about 100 kilometers (160 miles) high.

"Saudi Arabia"
"Saudi Arabia"
is a country name, and right now, located in front of my eyes. (I mean, on the globe in front of me.)
So, let's check a bit about this country.
...
I found a new knowledge about this country.
It's the country where the holy city (for especially Muslim) "Mecca" is located.
Actually, I had leaned where Mecca is when I leaned World History, but I hadn't linked this city with the country name "Saudi Arabia."
I guess it's a common knowledge... but well, it's a new information for me.

Writing About Truth
I've got to write about "Truth" by chance.
How difficult it is...
Oh,
"Writing about 'Truth' is difficult" is also true.

The City's Setting
The campaign posters in here (Canada) are much better than those in Japan.
I thought this, because I've seen many campaign posters (or signs?) in Victoria these days. These posters are not too loud, and sometimes it's even cute compared to the ones in Japan.
I guess, Japanese don't think about the city's setting so deeply. Japanese cities are generally messier than those in North America or Europe, but living in a beautiful city is so much nicer than living in a messy one, so I hope they will get a better sense for constructing a city in the future.

A Post Card
There is one post card on the wall of my room.
Everytime I look at it, my stress melts and I feel good. It's a picture of a little bunny looking out from a blue pocket, and it's said "Wish I could take you with me everywhere." as the message.
So cute!!!

On a Rainy Day
Several days ago, on a rainy day, I saw a small yellow chrysanthemum like flower under a bus-stop bench.
At that time, I was in bad mood because of the rain and a heavy backpack, but even so, I felt good after finding this small flower.
How big the power of the flower was. It changed my feelings by only opening its petals.

The Angle of Growth
"Even if you don't have a large angle of growth, you can go further if you continue your efforts and keep your growth rate for a long time."
These are the words I really really like, and there is more.
"When it comes to think about 'continuing for a long time,' it might be even better to have a small angle of growth."
I now know these words, so I think I can continue my efforts.

A Para-Wing
Today, I found two beautiful pictures that were taken from a para wing.
These were beautiful pictures of the sky and the land.
I've been really wanting to try this sport from the time I first saw them flying. It must be really really good feeling...

Posting Time
I've completely forgot for today (Jan 13th) 's post.
Ummm... so there will be two posts for Jan 14th' section(?).
About two or three months ago, I could choose the date and the time when I write a post, but now it's automatically put the time at the time I open this 'Create' page.
Maybe it's not so good for a person who is a little lazy like me...

TV Guide on the Web
During the winter break, I found the web site that tells me TV programs with channels (and hours).
Because I don't take a newspaper, I didn't know the names and the times of almost any TV programs before finding this site, but now, I can see lots of movies and figure skate shows and other programs from beginning to end!

Cats
I like cats.
They are so cute. Even after they scratch me, I don't feel any anger but only think their cuteness.
One day, I want to have cats.

Small Flowers
What is today's small flower?
perhaps the one that finding interesting books at the university library.
I've been finding it hard to concentrating on my studies, but even in this situation, I think I can find some flowers on my way to home.

One Counterplot
Downtown Victoria has become a little creepy in these days,
but I found one way of passing over those scary homeless people, to sing a children's song with a happy face.
With this, those people think that I'm mad and don't come closer.
I'm sure that if I add dazed eyes, it would be better.

Lady Bird Johnson
"Where flowers bloom, so does hope. - Lady Bird Johnson" - from my last year's January calendar.
Mm, nice phrase.
...
I didn't know who the Lady Bird Johnson is, just before writing these sentences (I even didn't know what the ladybird is), but when I was about to write like 'Though I don't know who the Lady Bird Johnson is...', I thought that "I, at least, would better to search some information about this person."
Then, after I put the name on Google, I got some knowledge about her.
She seems to be one of the greatest women in the U.S.
To write this post, I searched, and now I have new knowledge about a great woman.
I like this way of knowing.

Character and a Habit
When I was reading a small booklet today, I found a very interesting phrase.
It's said, "One's character is one kind of his/her habit. ~ It's a habitual way of thinking that has been patterned."
I've never imagined that my character is one of my habit.
If my character is a habit, then I can correct its bad aspect, and become a bit brighter person...
It's really a good thing to know about this...

A Book About Hope
I'm reading an interesting book called (Japanese) that may change my attitude towards my life.
I think I have to study a little more seriously, but first of all, I give great thanks to the author.

Several Month Ahead
In these days, I've seen lots of blossom buds on many trees.
It's interesting that I imagine lots of flowers blossoming in the middle of winter. But I've been doing this -- imagine several months ahead from the time I'm in. I imagined autumnal leaves and shorter days of winter in the middle of summer.
One friend said I'm imagining too further.
Maybe she is right.

One Minute
Oh, my god!
I just missed one minute for January 2nd's post.
I realized for the post at 11:59, and pressed the power button. The computer was on 'stand by,' so it shouldn't take too much time to recover, but I guess my computer has become too old to deal all the security software's checks within some seconds.
Well... I'd better remember this and press at least two minutes before midnight for the next time.
