I made a card that printed "spare time = reading time."
I'd better try to read text books more closely, so I'll put this card on the wall, and look at it whenever I have nothing to do.

As someone who works in a bookstore I certainly think spare time should equal reading time! When you wrote:"I'd better to read text books more closely", did you mean to write "I'd better try to read text books more closely"? That would make more sense.
